Course Transcript - Deke All right, now, I kind of hate to start this way, but there's this new feature that you'll notice immediately, and my guess is most of you listening to my voice are going to find it to be highly intrusive. And so I'm going to introduce the feature to you. You can decide whether you like it or not, and then I'll show you how to turn it off.
And so if you're seeing the start screen, just go ahead and click the Create new button, or you can choose the New command from the File menu. I'm going to go with the default size and click Create and then zoom in so that we have a big field of white.
What Is Css Editing
Now notice if I hover over any one of the tools, I will see an animated so-called rich tool tip. That tells me what I consider to be a little bit of obvious information, that the rectangular marquee tool makes a selection in the shape of a rectangle. Meanwhile, the lasso tool makes freehand selections and so forth. Now, I don't want to mock this too much. I'm sure a lot of energy was put into making these things. The truth of the matter is, however, those of you who teach Photoshop know that this is no way to really learn a very complicated program. Because even if you see animations for each and every tool, you still don't know how to use the program.
And so if you, like me, do not want to see these things every time you hover over a tool, then what you want to do is go up to the Photoshop menu here on a Mac. On a PC you want to go to the Edit menu. Drop down the Preferences, which is located much lower on the menu on the PC, and then choose Tools. And then all you need to do is turn off this check box, Use Rich Tool Tips, and then go ahead and click OK. At which point, the next time you hover over a tool, you'll see its name along with its keyboard shortcut. And that, very briefly, is how you take advantage of rich tool tips.
And in the event you don't care for them, turn them off. Practice while you learn with exercise files.
