A DDR3 SODIMM will not fit into DDR2 or DDR memory sockets.SODIMMs are smaller and thinner than regular DIMMs, and the 204-pin SODIMM PCBs are always 2.6 inches long and are usually around 1.18 inches high (though the heights can vary slightly).
They consist of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The number of memory components on a 204-pin SODIMM's printed circuit board (PCB) can vary, but the PCB will always have 102 pins on the front and the back both, for a total of 204 pins. The gold pins on the bottom of the SODIMM provide the connection between the memory module and the memory socket. 849 CRUCIAL tvlicensing:No https://www.incredible.co.za/media/catalog/product/e/2/e2ce1f1fc03cb87de6096308c88bda9f21.jpg. Rated 5 out of 5 by Apple Always from Works as advertised! I plugged these well packaged memory modules into my MacBook Pro, Mid 2009 laptop and booted up without issue. Download buffering, photo processing and file loading speed are greatly improved. I've run for a month without a glitch. After downloading instructions from Apple the memory module swap was a straightforward task.
However, I have two warnings. First, be absolutely sure that you know the exact replacement modules to order. I found it reassuring to check with the Apple Support Community. Second, always use an anti-static wrist-strap when handling and installing anything that goes inside your computer. Rated 4 out of 5 by JBA from Very satisfied with the upgrade kit My iMAC (early 2009) had been reduced to a crawl since it had only two 2 GB memory chips. Rather than buying a new computer, I elected to upgrade the chips bought from B&H.

Had the pack in about 36 hours. Installed per Apple instructions. Upon starting up I heard fog horn beeps from the computer. Immediately shut down. Went online at B&H for user reviews. One user complained of installation challenges only to find he needed to insert the chips with more forcefully until he hear it click in place. That was also my problem and solution.
Lesson learned: push hard on the chips as they slide into the computer. It will definitely click when they go into place. Rated 2 out of 5 by EditMeNice from Dubious memory I upgraded my early 2009 iMac with this 8gb memory. It works, but the computer started randomly going into sleep mode. No data loss, just narcolepsy. I reinstalled Mavericks, and it seems to be better, but the screen did go black for a second once, then came back.
I only did this yesterday, so we'll see. I also didn't get the vast performance boost the hype promises. It takes almost as long to render stuff as it did with 4gb.
I also replaced the dvd drive with an SSD. So what was a 14 hour render is now 12. Not worth the cost or the trouble.
Rated 3 out of 5 by jlesliemonique from Memory Being So Crucial. I bought memory because I am a video editor and I could not run Final Cut Pro X without at least 4GB of memory. I had my Macbook Pro since 2010 and this is the first time I got some memory for it.

Since I restored my new memory I still experience computer crashes and I'm not sure what the problem is with the memory or hard drive when running FCPX. It also takes forever to export videos still, and I thought the memory would fix that. I'm actually not sure what the memory did for my computer besides letting FCPX run on my computer with not much issue. So that's why I gave it a 3 out of 5 stars. Rated 5 out of 5 by Joe from Perfect for my Mid 2009 MacBook Pro After reading all the reviews about upgrading to OS X Mavericks, I knew the stock 4GB of RAM in my Mid 2009 15 2.53Ghz MacBook Pro needed to be upgraded. So I bought Crucial's 8GB SODIMM DDR3 PC3-8500 RAM kit.
Crucial 4gb Ddr3 1067mhz Sodimm So-dimm Memory For Macbook Pro
This RAM is perfect and works as advertised. Crucial is very reliable! Also, if you're thinking about upgrading your old MacBook Pro, may I suggest getting a SSD. I got Crucial's M500 and it, along with this RAM kit, has brought new life to my aging MacBook. Highly recommend Crucial products!
